Matangi

Matangi is at times the charismatic and mischievous villain of the story. Even though her goal is the same as the others, she hides her true intentions behind an “evil” attitude. She wants to escape the big clam as much as Moana, Maui and the crew and knows only Moana can help her do that. Regardless of what is on the outside, everything Matangi does drives Moana towards the right path to break the curse. Ultimately, Matangi only wants to be set free.

Matangi’s delivery is mostly mysterious, tempting others, verging on evil and mean with a sing-song quality that seems to imply double meanings behind her words.
